Conservation for Sustainable Future: Unfolding the reality of ecosystem services

A 5-day ‘Living Planet Conservation Developmental Lab’

Organised by

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Labour Market Research Facility),

O.P. Jindal Global University (Research Centre for Digital Circular Economy for Sustainable Development),

Srushti Conservation Foundation, and

Living Planet Foundation

The Developmental Lab is designed to provide participants with an understanding of how the ecosystem works, the role of humans and human-led activities in degrading natural resources, and the role of people and government in conserving, maintaining, and improving natural resources while meeting our basic needs. The Developmental Lab assists participants in understanding the value of ecological services to human well-being. The Developmental Lab helps each participant in designing and presenting their own 'conservation model' through an intensive sequence of solo and group activities suited for them. Participants in the Developmental Lab have hands-on experience with biodiversity, forests, land, water bodies, livelihoods, policies, lifestyles, and cultural traditions. The Developmental Lab involves a review of literature, reflection, sharing, and presentation. The Developmental Lab educates participants to be lifelong environmental leaders and to invest in the future and potential of our community to better its physical environment. Participants will receive real-world experience working in an intense group atmosphere, heat or high humidity levels - sometimes accompanied by mosquitoes, as cohabitation with other species is required.
