Data is embedded at all levels of organisations, regardless of the type of organisations, such as Corporate Houses, Government Organisations, Non-governmental organisations, Academic Institutions, start-ups, or even our society. This data becomes more valuable to us once we learn how to decode it to make the best decisions. Also, data only has value when it is served in the right format so that it can be read or consumed in another way, and more importantly, made accessible for people who need it, when they need it. Today, for all the decisions, we are completely dependent on the data and the amount of digital data globally is doubling approximately every three years. As the data is increasing, variation within the data is increasing too. Thus, different types of data need to transform into a suitable format for decision-making. Hence, a thorough understanding of the type, nature, and forms of data has become a basic necessity of the present life.
In organisations, decision-making is not exclusively a management responsibility; each person in an organization who has access to rich data in the context of their job, will make better decisions and therefore do a better job. This demands three critical skills -
Research Fundamentals
Research is a systematic and refined technique of thinking, employing specialized tools, instruments, and procedures in order to obtain a more adequate solution to a problem than would be possible under ordinary means. It starts with a problem, collects data or facts, analysis these critically, and reaches decisions based on the actual evidence. It evolves original work instead of the mere exercise of personal. The clarity in the research fundamentals sets the ground to get the right data
Data Analytics
Data analytics is the science of integrating heterogeneous data (that include structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data) from diverse sources, drawing inferences, and making predictions to enable innovation, gain competitive business advantage, and help strategic decision-making. Data analytics methods not only provide insights into the past but also provide predictions and testable explanations. Analytics are used for solving a range of problems from improving process efficiency to cost reductions, providing superior customer service and experience, identifying new products and services, and enhancing security capabilities.
Data Visualisation
Data visualisation is a key to interpreting processed information. Data visualization helps to tell stories by curating data into a form easier to understand, highlighting the trends and outliers. Data visualization tools and technologies are essential to analyze massive amounts of information and make data-driven decisions. A good visualization tells a story, removing the noise from data and highlighting useful information. The expertise in data visualisation applies in all the disciplines across all sectors such as government, finance, marketing, history, consumer goods, service industries, education, sports, etc.

He has extensive experience in FMCG, Automobile, Retail, Pharma, and Agrochemical, has handled diverse internal and external employee groups, teams, and exemplifies strong HR leadership in a matrix environment. Dr. Swapnil Moon
Dr. Swapnil Dhanraj is an Assistant Professor at O.P. Jindal Global University. He is a trained sociologist with PhD and M.Phil from the Centre for the Study of Social Systems, Jawaharlal Nehru University. His doctoral research focuses on the politics of nativism in Maharashtra. His interest areas are - political sociology, sociology of stratification, research methods, and inequalities based on caste & class in India.
